What type of documents can I use to train my chatbot? What file formats are supported?

DocuChat supports a wide range of document types including PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-book, Notepad, CSV, markdown, and media files. You can also add URLs and YouTube videos as sources of information. We are continuously working to extend the types of documents supported by our platform.

How long does it take to train a chatbot?

The process is incredibly fast. For documents shorter than 100 pages, it typically takes just a few seconds to create a chatbot. If you upload a large number of documents or a single long document, it might take slightly longer, but almost never exceeds a minute.

What AI models does DocuChat use? Can I use GPT-4?

We support GPT-3.5 and, on our Pro plan, GPT-4 and Mistral Large. We are also working on integrating other AI models, such as Anthropic's Claude 3 family of models, into our platform.

What languages does DocuChat support?

DocuChat supports more than 80 different languages. This means that you can upload documents and ask questions in any of these supported languages, and your chatbots will respond in the language of the question.

Is DocuChat GDPR compliant?

Yes, DocuChat is fully compliant with both the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Being headquartered in the European Union (Estonia, to be specific), we are naturally subject to some of the most stringent data protection laws in the world. Our servers are located in Frankfurt, Germany to ensure your data remains within the EU jurisdiction. All our subprocessors and service providers are either based in the EU or guarantee that their data storage is located within the EU. And we have also established detailed subprocessor agreements with each of these providers. We take data privacy and security very seriously, and we are committed to ensuring that your data is always protected.

Is my data secure? Where is it stored?

Your data and documents are securely stored on our servers, which are located in Frankfurt, Germany. Our infrastructure providers are AICPA SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3 Type II certified, ensuring best-in-class security measures. All data that passes through our system, both in transit and at rest, is encrypted. This means that whether your data is moving across the internet or stored on our servers, it is securely coded to protect against unauthorized access or breaches. Moreover, if you choose to delete anything, it will be permanently removed from our servers. We respect your ownership and the rights you have over your information.

Is my data used for training AI models?

No, we or other AI model providers do not use any of your documents, questions, or answers for training any AI models. While we use OpenAI’s API, we are opted-out of their data sharing program. So neither we nor OpenAI will use your data to train AI models.


Is there a demo I can try?

Of course, you can test our demo chatbot at the top of this page or by clicking on the chat icon in the bottom right corner. You can also create your own chatbot for free and try it out for 14 days. No credit card required.

Do you have file size limits?

There are size limits for batch upload capped at 50 MB but no limits for individual documents. If you have a document larger than 50 MB, you can split it into smaller parts and upload them separately. Other than that, we have fair usage limits for the total file size in your account but these are very generous and you can always contact us if you need more.

Can I embed a chatbot on multiple websites?

Yes, you can embed a chatbot on as many websites as you like.

My company needs custom features and integrations. Can you help?

We're always happy to receive feedback and we do develop features requested by our user base. If you are on our Enterprise plan, we can also discuss custom features and integrations to meet your specific requirements.

Can I white label chatbots?

Yes, you can white label chatbots on our Pro plan. This means that you can remove all DocuChat branding and replace it with your own branding, including your logo and colors.

Can I customize my chatbot's design and answers?

Yes, you can customize your chatbot's design and answers. You can choose from a variety of colors, and you can also give custom instructions to your chatbot to shape how it answers questions.

How can I add a chatbot to my website or application?

You can embed a chatbot on your website or application by copying and pasting a simple embed code. We provide two types of embed codes: embed the chat interface to the content of your web page or embed as a widget, which is a floating button that opens the chat interface when clicked.

Can I give custom instructions to my chatbots?

Yes, you can give custom instructions to your chatbots. For instance, you can specify how they should respond to certain questions or how they should respond to questions that they don't know the answer to.

Does DocuChat have an API?

Currently, we don't offer an API. However, this feature is in our roadmap and we plan to introduce it as soon as possible.

Can I integrate DocuChat with Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, or other messaging platforms?

While DocuChat doesn't offer a permanently free plan, we do provide a 14-day free trial. During this trial period, you can access all the features available in our Pro plan.

Can I modify my DocuChat subscription after I have started using it?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your subscription at any time. If you upgrade, you will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the billing cycle. If you downgrade, you will be charged the new amount at the start of the next billing cycle.

What are the monthly question credits and limits?

We use a credit-based system to track your monthly usage. Each time a chatbot answers a question, it uses up a number of credits depending on the AI model used. For instance, if you use GPT-3.5, each question will use up 1 credit. If you use GPT-4, each question will use up 15 credits. Your credits are reset at the start of each billing cycle. And you can always check your credit usage in your account dashboard.

What are the monthly page processing limits?

We use a page-based system to track your monthly usage when processing your source documents. Each time a document is processed, it uses up a number of pages based on the number of characters in the document. We consider 1 page to be 3,000 characters. For instance, if you upload a document with 6,000 characters, it will use up 2 pages. Your page usage is reset at the start of each billing cycle. And you can always check your page usage in your account dashboard.

Do I need to provide my OpenAI API key?

No, you don't. We manage all interactions with OpenAI or other AI model providers using our own API key.

Are there any additional fees or costs besides the subscription fee?

No, there are no additional fees or costs beyond the subscription fee. We prioritize transparency in our pricing, and what you see is what you pay.

Do you offer refunds?

We offer a 14-day money back guarantee starting from the date of your first subscription purchase. If you are not satisfied with the service within this period, simply contact us at and we will refund your payment.
